Terms and Conditions
Provider and scope
Tabspaces e.U. · Christoph Tobias Stenglein, BSc. · Thalmannsbach 15, 4771 Sigharting, Österreich
These terms govern use of HamsterBudget and optional device sync. They apply to the services agreed during the respective purchase process. Sync terms apply once you take out a sync subscription. Updated: 16 October 2026.
Web purchases use Stripe Managed Payments; Stripe is the merchant of record. App Store purchases are also subject to Apple's purchase and subscription terms, and the iOS app uses Apple's standard license agreement. The seller, total price and other purchase terms are identified in the respective purchase dialog. Mandatory statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
Services and requirements
HamsterBudget is personal budgeting software. Local use does not require a sync account. Device sync is an optional, separately paid service requiring an account at sync.hamsterbudget.com with an email address and password or a magic link, and an internet connection for synchronization.
Sync stores selected budget contents on the server and synchronizes them between your devices. Transfers use TLS, without end-to-end encryption. Use of each app requires its own entitlement; a sync subscription does not include a desktop license or permanent iOS unlock. On iOS, sync only runs during an unlocked trial or with the unlocked full version.
Features, supported systems and requirements are set out in the respective offer at the time of contracting. Keep your credentials secure and make your own backups of budget files. Sync does not replace a backup.
Desktop license: one-time purchase
The desktop license is paid for once and covers one person on up to five registered installations. The license is delivered by email. The first activation of an installation requires an internet connection; afterwards, the activated desktop app can be used without periodic online license checks.
The desktop license has no expiry date or app-version limit. Updates are included in the desktop license. The purchase does not create a sync subscription. The iOS full version is purchased separately through Apple. Statutory conformity and update obligations remain unaffected.
Prices and contract formation
Prices, taxes, currencies and billing intervals shown on the respective purchase page or in the Apple purchase dialog before purchase apply. Web and App Store prices may differ. These terms contain no fixed prices.
Purchases are confirmed in the respective purchase dialog and concluded under the conditions shown there. Payment, invoicing and any refunds are handled through the respective purchase channel. The desktop license and sync subscription are separate purchases.
Sync subscription: term, renewal and cancellation
Web purchases through Stripe offer monthly or yearly terms where shown in the purchase dialog. Apple's in-app subscription has a monthly term. The selected term and renewal price are shown before purchase. Unless canceled in time, the subscription automatically renews for its respective billing interval and is charged again.
Manage and cancel a Stripe sync subscription via the Stripe customer portal accessed from sync.hamsterbudget.com/account, or through Link. Ordinary cancellation stops further renewal; access continues until the end of the period already paid for. Cancel before the next renewal; the portal shows the actual end date.
Manage and cancel an Apple sync subscription in iPhone Settings under your Apple Account and “Subscriptions”. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to prevent the next automatic renewal. With ordinary cancellation, access continues until the paid period ends. Conditions shown in Apple's purchase dialog also apply.
Once sync entitlement ends, budget synchronization stops. Local budget data is retained. Canceling the subscription does not automatically delete the sync account or budgets stored on the server.
Account deletion
You can delete your account and its associated server-side sync budgets at sync.hamsterbudget.com/account. Save any budget data you need locally first. Account deletion immediately ends a Stripe sync subscription and sync access. Statutory refund rights remain unaffected.
Account deletion does not cancel an Apple sync subscription. You must cancel it yourself in iPhone Settings so Apple does not continue renewing and charging it. After account deletion, there is no access to the deleted sync account even if an Apple subscription is still running. A desktop license is independent of account deletion.
Consumer right of withdrawal
Consumers generally have 14 days from conclusion of a distance contract to withdraw without giving a reason. Send an unambiguous statement to the seller named on your purchase receipt; sending it before the deadline is sufficient. For contracts with Tabspaces e.U., use the postal or email address above. For Stripe or Apple purchases, you can use the contact and refund channels given on the respective receipt. Canceling a subscription stops future renewals and does not replace a withdrawal statement.
For paid digital content not supplied on a physical medium, the right of withdrawal is lost upon early commencement of supply only if you expressly consented to supply before the withdrawal period ended, acknowledged the resulting loss of that right, and received the legally required contract confirmation. These terms alone do not constitute such consent.
For services, starting use alone does not end the right of withdrawal. It only ends upon full performance and fulfillment of the statutory requirements for your express consent and acknowledgement. If you validly requested an early start, a legally permitted proportionate amount for services already provided may be payable on withdrawal. A valid withdrawal is handled under the statutory rules; platform conditions do not restrict mandatory rights.
You may use this model statement, but do not have to: To the seller named on the purchase receipt (name, address, email): I hereby withdraw from my contract for the supply of the following software or service: …; ordered on: …; consumer's name and address: …; date: …; signature only if submitted on paper.
Availability and statutory conformity rights
Sync requires a working internet connection and compatible app versions. Maintenance, updates or technical faults may temporarily interrupt synchronization. We remedy faults in accordance with our contractual and statutory obligations. These terms do not promise a specific uptime percentage.
Statutory conformity rights for software and digital services and statutory update obligations remain in place. Keeping your own backups is advisable; this recommendation does not limit our statutory duties.
Liability and applicable law
Liability for damage is governed by statutory law. These terms do not exclude liability for intent, gross negligence or personal injury. Mandatory consumer rights and claims for loss of data remain unaffected.
Contracts with Tabspaces e.U. are governed by Austrian law, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Consumers retain the protection of mandatory rules of their country of habitual residence where applicable under statutory conflict-of-law rules. Statutory jurisdiction remains unaffected. Purchases through Stripe or Apple are additionally subject to their validly agreed terms insofar as they do not conflict with mandatory consumer rights.
